Paper Mosaics

These are two versions of a mosaic technique. In the first called ‘The Visitation’ is a reductive technique where the top layers are cut and torn out to leave the ‘grout’ areas. and then the ‘mosaic’ areas were individually painted.

In the second work called ‘Reading’ the mosaic pieces were cut and torn individually and then fitted into place and glued down. Many of these paper tiles were painted before being torn into squares and fitted. But some of the staining and shading was done at the end.
